Our Community Services

Sacred Healing Lights International, Inc. (SacredHLI) is a 508(c)(1)(A) faith-based nonprofit operating nationally with a focused mission to reduce homelessness risk and restore dignity. We serve people through two distinct divisions working in concert: (1) the Real Estate Walkaway Program for housing stability and (2) the Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Telehealth Division for behavioral health stabilization. Both programs are mission-aligned, ethically governed, and designed to meet families at critical moments with compassion, clarity, and lawful excellence.

California’s homelessness crisis reveals how tightly housing distress and behavioral health needs intertwine. One rarely exists without the other. SacredHLI addresses both sides—preventing displacement where possible and strengthening people through accessible care. Our divisions operate separately for compliance yet coordinate warm hand-offs with explicit client consent. This balanced approach is unique and intentional: it prevents abandonment and builds a humane, sustainable pathway out of crisis.

Division 1: Real Estate Walkaway Program (National)

SacredHLI’s Walkaway Program serves individuals, families, and businesses nationwide who are burdened by a property that no longer serves them—foreclosure risk, inherited real estate, urgent life transitions, overwhelming repairs, or equity traps caused by predatory systems. Our posture is simple: dignity first. We provide an ethical, transparent path to exit without pressure, shame, or unsafe terms.

What We Offer

  • Private, plain-language consultations to clarify all options
  • Transparent, lawful solutions—no repairs, no showings, no high-pressure tactics
  • End-to-end logistics support from decision to closing
  • Ethical stewardship grounded in our faith identity and community responsibility

Who We Serve (National scope, BIPOC-focused, open to all)

While SacredHLI’s heart is to prioritize BIPOC households—who remain historically underserved and disproportionately harmed by foreclosure and exclusionary housing practices—our Walkaway Program is open to all demographics seeking a safe, respectful transition. We routinely support homeowners facing delinquency, heirs navigating probate, elders burdened by maintenance, and small businesses needing an orderly exit from a property commitment.

Specialized Option: 1031 Exchange Walkaway

For certain households—particularly elders, investors, or families inheriting real estate—the best walkaway solution may involve a 1031 Exchange. This IRS-recognized option allows a seller to exchange one burdensome property for another investment property of equal or greater value, deferring capital gains taxes when the exchange meets statutory requirements. SacredHLI educates and stewards clients through this path when appropriate, helping them preserve wealth and avoid systemic traps that strip generational equity. Our role is to coordinate a respectful, compliant process, working with qualified intermediaries, escrow, and tax advisors so the exchange remains transparent, lawful, and aligned with the client’s goals for dignity and financial stability.

How It Works

  1. Confidential intake: you share your situation—without pressure or obligation.
  2. Options simulation: we model your best outcome and explain it in plain language (traditional walkaway, 1031, or other).
  3. Decision & stewardship: if you choose to proceed, we manage the process respectfully and lawfully.

Core Aspects of the Walkaway Program

  • No repairs required: sellers are not forced to invest more into a property that is already a burden.
  • No showings or open houses: SacredHLI protects privacy and prevents exploitation during transition.
  • Respectful, legal closure: every contract and transfer is above-board, with dignity as the guiding principle.
  • Seller sets the timeline: families determine when they are ready; SacredHLI adapts accordingly.
  • Education & advocacy: clients are informed of their rights and guided through options they may not know existed.
  • Faith-rooted stewardship: the process honors the sacredness of the seller’s life journey, not just the transaction.

Division 2: Mental Health & SUD Telehealth (California)

SacredHLI’s behavioral health division delivers 100% remote, HIPAA-compliant counseling and SUD services led by California-licensed clinicians. This division exists to blunt the human impact of the homelessness epidemic by addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and substance use—factors that destabilize families and erode housing security. We welcome all; we pay special attention to BIPOC, Spanish-speaking, and faith-oriented communities often left behind by traditional systems.

California-First Strategy

Our behavioral health work begins where the need is urgent and the infrastructure exists to scale impact: Kern County and neighboring regions. This California-first focus allows SacredHLI to collaborate with county agencies and Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs), pilot data-driven telehealth models, and steadily expand access. Our roadmap is to extend services across at least 10 additional counties, building a sustainable, compliant network of culturally responsive care.

Clinical Services

  • Individual, couples, and family therapy via secure video or phone
  • Substance Use Disorder counseling, relapse prevention, recovery support
  • ASAM-informed assessments, person-centered care plans, and care coordination
  • Supervision and quality oversight for associates (AMFT, ASW, APCC)
  • Faith-integrated counseling upon client request
  • Language access via live interpreters on our telehealth platform

Insurance-Based Care Only

SacredHLI provides telehealth psychiatric and behavioral health services exclusively for patients who are referred or authorized through commercial insurance payers. We do not accept self-referrals, walk-ins, county referrals, school or court referrals, or any community-based referrals.

Health plan care coordinators or payer representatives may contact our care coordination team for authorized member scheduling and coordination.

Why These Two Divisions Matter—Together

Housing distress and untreated behavioral health needs often appear together. A family losing a home may experience grief, anxiety, and relapse risk; a person battling addiction may struggle to maintain continuous work and stable housing. SacredHLI’s dual program model is an ethical response to a complex problem: it offers a dignified exit from a property that is causing harm and the supportive care needed to stabilize the person behind the address. When clients request it, our teams coordinate warm hand-offs so no one falls through the cracks.

Program Integrity & Data Separation (For Approvers & Partners)

SacredHLI’s two divisions are operationally and technically separate. We maintain independent intake workflows, records, and governance for each program to satisfy legal, ethical, and payer requirements. This structure is intentional for regulators and auditors who may review our website and worry about co-mingled data. The safeguards are explicit:

  • Separate intake processes: Real Estate Walkaway intake is distinct from Behavioral Health intake. Different web forms, different email inboxes/routes, and distinct documentation standards.
  • Separate systems & records: Behavioral Health records are maintained in a HIPAA-compliant platform. SUD documentation follows 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality. Walkaway program records are maintained in separate systems appropriate to real estate and consumer-protection law.
  • No cross-use of data without explicit, written consent: We never move client information between divisions unless the client signs a specific consent authorizing a warm hand-off or resource referral. No consent = no sharing.
  • Least-privilege access controls: Staff only access the records necessary for their role within a given division.
  • Compliance policies & training: We maintain role-based training, audit trails, privacy incident procedures, and corrective action plans across both divisions.

This approach—separate programs, coordinated only with consent—exists to reassure overzealous approvers and to protect the people we serve. Our mission demands it; the law requires it; our faith convictions affirm it.

Service FAQs

Are the two divisions actually separate?

Yes. The Walkaway Program and the Behavioral Health Division maintain separate leadership, policies, systems, and records. Cross-program coordination only occurs with explicit, written client consent and is limited to the minimum necessary information to complete a warm hand-off or referral.

Do you offer a 1031 Exchange walkaway option?

Yes. When appropriate, SacredHLI can steward a 1031 Exchange to help a client move from a burdensome property to a different investment property while deferring capital gains taxes. We coordinate with qualified intermediaries, escrow, and tax advisors to ensure a lawful, transparent process aligned with the client’s goals.

Is your Walkaway Program only for BIPOC clients?

No. Our mission prioritizes BIPOC families because of historic disparities, but we serve all demographics nationally who need a dignified, lawful exit from a burdensome property. Inclusion and equity are both core to our identity.

Where are Behavioral Health services available now?

We are launching in Kern County, California with a planned expansion to at least 10 additional counties. Services are 100% telehealth and delivered by California-licensed clinicians, enabling rapid geographic scaling with payer alignment.

Do you provide crisis services?

No. SacredHLI is not a crisis provider. If you are in danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, call 911 or 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) immediately, or go to your nearest emergency department.
